Those of you who travel a lot might want to check out arguscarhire.com, a website where you can find the cheapest car hire deals in different countries and 12,000 cities around the world.
Say, you are visiting Spain and you need a car to drive around the Spanish countryside, just go to the Argus Car Hire website and book the car of your choice. Here’s the link, by the way: Car Hire Spain.
You can do the same if you’re visiting other places like Algeria, or Iceland, or Bonaire. Where is that Bonaire? It’s an island in the Carribean, my friend. It’s a famous scuba diving destination according to our reliable source, a.k.a., wikipedia.
Those of you who’ve got the talent in producing 30-second commercials might want to join this Dockers contest.
The contest started last April 29 and ends on May 29, 2008. This means you’ve got enough time — around four weeks, my friend — to come up with a concept and get it on film.
Once you’ve got it done and had it approved by the gatekeepers, your commercial will be shown online at the NBC website — yes I’m referring to that NBC — and rated by the viewing public.
In case you win, your opus will be submitted for consideration to NBC as a commercial to be aired in The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Pretty cool, eh?
Of the commercials that are being aired now, I must say that my favorite would be the one that tells us about the historical terms used for our pair of pants. Did you know for instance that, at one time in the distant past, they were once called pluderhosen? Yeah, pluderhosen. So this “pluderhosen” commercial is my fav so far but you just might come up with a much better one.
You should take note though that there’s no prize money involved. But, if you win, you can boast to your friends that your commercial was aired in The Tonight Show. Not every talented person can make that claim. More importantly, winning a competitive contest like this will look good in your resume.
So, if you’re based in the U.S., of legal age (18 years old plus), and with creative talent raring to find an outlet, you should join this Dockers contest and get a chance to have your commercial aired at Jay Leno’s show.

Hello, tennis fans. Are you looking forward to the next big battle in men’s tennis? No, I’m not talking about Roland Garros, let’s give the French Open crown already to Rafael Nadal. It seems like no amount of wishful thinking by Roger Federer fans like myself will turn Roger into a French Open champion so let’s concede the French to Rafa and spare ourselves the heartburn.
Anyways, the next big battle in men’s tennis would be Wimbledon, the tournament of tournaments or The Championships as the British call it. I’m hoping that Roger will win this one. However, he’s not been playing well these days so who will emerge as the 2008 Wimbledon Champion is a big and legitimate question?
What’s your take? Do you think Roger will overcome his slump? Or will Rafa finally kick Roger’s butt in his third try? Maybe the partly entertaining and partly annoying Novak Djokovic will repeat his Australian Open triumph and declare himself the King of Tennis? What about the under-achieving Andy Roddick, does he stand a chance against the top three?
Arrgh. I wish I was in London and I wish I’ve got some Wimbledon tennis tickets to see any of the above possibilities happen. Who knows, I might even see my tennis crush, Jelena Jankovic. Seeing Ana and Maria would be a bonus too.

Ever heard of the Lean Six Sigma? Well it is a process-oriented strategy developed by Smarter Solutions Inc which is aimed at increasing operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and shareholder value. It is primarily designed for business organizations but its objective of eliminating waste (of financial resources, time, etc) should also apply to non-business entities.
Check out Smarter Solutions’ Six Sigma Black Belt Training if you’d like to know more about this.
What do you do with your broken bottles or glasses? Do you just throw them out with the rest of your garbage? If you do, that’s considered an environmental sin. It’s just as bad as McDonalds and Jollibbee using all those plastic cups and styrophor plates.
So what should we do with our broken bottles then? Well, let’s make them into glass cullets, that’s what.
I heard of glass cullets back in the 1990s when I visited the recycling place in Sagada which was located near Ken Kitongan or the bottomless pit. [If you haven’t heard of Sagada’s bottomless pit, it’s between the cemetery and the old St. Mary’s School laboratory.]
Anyways, while visiting that recycling center I noticed that they were crushing broken bottles and glasses. I was told that the Glass Cullet, among its many other uses, can be added to the sand and cement which one uses to build a house or any construction project. I was like, “Whoo, wouldn’t those pieces of broken glass cut into the tires of a car when they’re used in a road project?”
Stupid question, no? I was assured that it won’t happen like that. In fact, I was told that crushed glass cullets behave like natural sand. Natural sand, of course, don’t cut into the tires of passing cars, right? Right.
Anyways, I’m not sure whether the Sagada folks who were recycling these broken bottles are still at it. I certainly hope they are. It would be sad if, like practically every worthwhile undertaking in these islands in the Pacific, their venture dies an unlamented death.
Well, I must admit that this is the first time I hear of metaRL.com, metaverse, free lindens, virtual worlds, and that kind of stuff. I’m sure it is a new thing to a lot of us whose online experience is mostly focused on blogging hehe.
Anyways, what is metaRL? It is a web site for geeks who are into virtual worlds. In said site, you can play games, participate in surveys, join contests, and many other things. While doing these things you will, in the process, earn virtual currency.
Okay. How much virtual money can you earn? Apparently, you can earn as much as you like. The more you participate in the online activities, the higher will your points be and — obviously — your virtual earnings will be higher.
Ha, ain’t that a nice way to have virtual money. By the way, just to be clear, we are talking about virtual money here and not that kind which you can put in your wallet.
This is a review of web-articles.info, an online directory of web services related articles. Said articles are submitted by different sources who would like their pieces included in the directory. Since this is a review, let us look at both what is good and what is bad with said website.
First, here’s the good side. We like the fact that the site facilitates the sharing of information and is mindful of the need to cite/link to one’s sources. We are a fan of information sharing and we also believe that if you borrow anything from the web, the decent thing to do is to link back to where you borrowed.
Now, here’s our negative feedback which, we hope, will be taken positively by the website owner. One, there is a need to check the site content’s spelling and grammar. Sure, we can be lenient with grammar and bad spellings in the web; after all, internet publishing means instant publishing so grammatical and spelling lapses are understandable and can be excusable. However, there is such a thing as too many mistakes that can turn off your readers.
Second, the articles are hard to read because 1) the font is too small and 2) the articles run from the left edge of the computer to the other edge. In newspaper parlance, it’s just too much gray space. The effect of this gray space? It looks unfriendly and un-inviting; it is likely that only a very dutiful or a very information-hungry reader will have the patience to read the articles.
How to solve these problems? To us, it would be increasing the font and changing the one column format for the articles into two columns.
So that’s our review, friends.
