Can you imagine what could have happened if the fire which gutted the driver’s seat above reached this truck’s fuel tank? Baguio would have an unimaginable disaster in its hands if the tank was full of gasoline.

A fuel delivery truck (plate # UKN 956), passing along Kisad Rd. Baguio City, caught fire inside the driver’s area. The fire started around 9:00 in the morning of February 29, 2008.
Six people were injured: Juanito Uy, the driver of the fuel delivery truck; his wife Rosalie Calibos who suffered 2nd degree burn; their two children — Samuel (4yrs old) and Jasmine Joy (1 yr and 4months old); the driver’s helper, Mr. Nathan; and a passerby Mr. Rodrigo Halog Salango.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Misrepresentation gives the broader public wrong impressions of the Cordilleran culture. In fact, we may be introducing the wrong culture to our children.”
So is the Tungtungan a party pooper or is it the voice of reason? Maybe both?

If you were in Sagada during the months of November 2007 and January 2008, you would be wetter than if you were in Baguio. You need proof? Aba, meron tayong graphs to prove our point. Here’s the one for Sagada:

The graphs are from Project Rain Gauge, a joint project of Smart Communications, the Manila Observatory, and some participating schools.Because the project is only on its fifth month, we still don’t know who is wetter during an entire year — would it be Padma in Baguio or Pagano in Sagada.

02.08.08January 08 Architecture Exam Results
Congratulations to Ryan Mina Benaoe of St. Louis University for topping the Architecture Board Exam held last month.
From the Philippine Star:
A graduate of the Saint Louis University (SLU) here topped the licensure examinations for architects, the third in the school’s history.“Actually, it is hard to expect even to pass, much more making it to the top,” said 24-year-old topnotcher Ryan Mina Benaoe. Benaoe duplicated the feat of SLU graduates Joel Manzano and Rodel Rosario in the 1983 and 1995 licensure exams, respectively.

01.30.08Our First Boo Award
This is not really our first Boo Award because we have been doing this in our other home but this is the first time we are booing someone in this blog.
And the honor goes to: Virginia Gorospe, an elementary school principal in Baguio who has been suspended for 1) caressing female teachers and 2) collecting fees from a private affiliation school.
Read the story by Mike Guimbatan here. But here’s what Gorospe says about her caressing fellow teachers:
She added she was “neither a pervert or lesbian and her alleged malicious utterances and acts against female teachers were only jokes made between friends who have no malice in their minds.” She added “it is only in the minds of the complainants where they injected malice and lewd designs”.
So does this mean that the teachers who were caressed are not the complainants? Confusing, eh? But here’s our message to madam Gorospe: Whatever those utterances and acts, don’t do them in school. See it got you in trouble. And lifting someone else’s skirt in school? We hope you didn’t do it in front of the kids.
